Join us at Lost Shore for the first event Scottish Wooden Surfboard Meet. A laidback day of workshops, screenings & conversations as Europe’s finest wooden surfboard shapers and makers converge in Scotland.

Programme of Events

Design Your Own Bellyboard

Join our friend and local shaper Frazer Reid (FAR Wooden Surfboards) in an exclusive workshop to paint and customise your very own wooden bellyboard to take home with you! The workshop will start with a talk about the history of the bellyboard and the birth of surfing in the UK over 100 years ago. Only 10 places available.

All participants will receive a 20% discount on a surf lesson or session redeemable within one month after the event. Part of Lost Shore’s Make + Create series.

Alaia Shaping

Alaias are one of the first ever surf crafts. Watch as some of the best wooden surfboard shapers in Europe create a one-of-a-kind board inspired by Scotland’s first wooden surfboard meet at Lost Shore. The Lost Shore team and shapers will be around to tell you more about this incredible craft.

Wooden Surfboard – Try It Out

For anyone that has booked a surf session (does not include lessons) you’ll have the opportunity to try a wooden surfboard in the Cove.

Why Wood You? How Surf Culture Has Shaped The Way We Enjoy The Waves

A short film screening of SurfSufficient and talk with Sergi Galanó & Andrea Molina. 
Sergi, founder and shaper at Flama Surfboards and one of the leading wooden surfboard manufacturers, will take you on a journey exploring how surfboards have evolved over the years and his quest of developing more sustainable and fun surfboards. Whilst Andrea, Flama rider, wooden surfboard advocate and surf coach, will share her experience surfing wooden surfboards and the preconceptions surfers often have about what surfing is, that can be counterproductive for the enjoyment of the waves.
Mozambique à “SurfSufficient” is an integrated, hands-on program designed by the NGO Seeds Of Hope, to empower new surfing communities in Africa to ‘shape their own surfing future’.
Suitable for all ages.

The SurfSkate Academy – SurfSkate Workshops

Surfskating is an increasingly popular variation of skateboarding which replicates the experience of surfing a wave in the ocean, on dry land. Training on land becomes key to improving and perfecting your surfing technique but it can also serve as a basic introduction to surfing before entering the Cove.
